The demise of the Campaign for Press & Broadcasting Freedom brought to mind some pieces I wrote about its first Media Manifesto in 1986.

It may say ‘Nil by mouth’ above many a hospital bed, but we learn so much by word of mouth about how to live well and stay healthy.

‘Follow that hunch’ is my advice, but check everything, don’t be conned, and stay safe.

Journalists must consider the consequences when scapegoating the vulnerable.
